W 86th Pkwy Bikeway Project

Project Overview:
Transportation Planners and Engineers at DRCOG used a unique process to proportionally distribute Economic Recovery funds amongst municipal governments in Metropolitan Denver.
The W 86th Pkwy Bike Lanes project, completing the missing length of bicycle facilities on south side of W 86th Pkwy from Queen Street to West 88th Ave, was selected for stimulus funding in the City of Arvada.
Why is the City constructing a bikeway along W 86th Pkwy?
The City of Arvada is committed to completing the City transportation network for all modes of traffic. West 86th Parkway is an arterial roadway that connects residential neighborhoods to schools, parks, businesses, and future FasTracks. To ease traffic congestion and create an inviting atmosphere for travelers, the City is enhancing pedestrian and bicycle connectivity to promote walking, biking, and transit access for local trips.
Project Benefits:
Congestion Relief: developing bikeways allows cyclists to safely bike to local destinations and therefore reduce congestion on arterial roadways.
Connectivity: constructing the bike lane completes a missing link in the bike system and enhances network connectivity to provide safe and efficient bicycle travel.
Environment: a multi-modal transportation corridor promotes transportation alternatives that reduce traffic congestion, energy consumption, and greenhouse gases.
Project Status:
The project is currently in the final stages of construction and awaiting warmer weather for pavement markings and re-striping work. For more information about the project, please contact:
