Celebrate Arvada’s 11th Annual Arvada Trails Day

A Free Family Event

“This free day of learning and moving is always enjoyable for families and individuals in the community.“ event guest

No person left inside.  Get outdoors and move your feet, pedal your bike or just enjoy a day of celebrating outdoor adventure, nature, and sustainability booths, live animal presentations, resource conservation exhibits and information about Arvada’s bike-friendly streets and trails.

This family-friendly event celebrates the 10th anniversary of Majestic View Nature Center (www.arvada.org/nature) and the 20th anniversary of Two Ponds (www.fws.gov/twoponds)

Families and individuals of all ages can enjoy:

Ÿ  Two 5K trail walks with a park naturalist between trails connecting Two Ponds and Majestic View.  10:15 for a 10:30 departure at either Two Ponds or Majestic View.

Ÿ  20 mile free recreational bike “rough ride” guided by Denver Bicycle Touring Club. 8:45 a.m. at Majestic View Park parking lot (west of 72nd and Carr) for a 9:00 a.m. prompt departure. Helmets are required. No registration required.

Ÿ  6 mile free self-guided family-friendly bike ride, sponsored by the Touring Club.  9:15 a.m. for a 9:30 prompt departure. Helmets are required; registration is not required. Call Bill Orchard (303-929-5788) for more information on both rides.

Ÿ  Anniversary celebrations at both sites with free ice cream and hot dogs cooked and served by Arvada Fire Protection District members. Rededication ceremonies will be at 11:30 at Two Ponds with dignitaries, and 11:40 at for Majestic View with Mayor Marc Williams speaking.

Ÿ  Free shuttle service between the two sites.

At Majestic View Nature Center enjoy:

Ÿ  Live animal presentations by the Denver Zoo;

Ÿ  Petting and learning about the young alpacas from Ancient Treasures ranch;

Ÿ  Climbing tower for kids and adults

Ÿ  Bicycle Tune-up, Fix Up Center. Bring your bikes for free minor tune-ups; 

Ÿ  Nature, outdoor and sustainability exhibits; and

Ÿ  Kids’ environmental and craft activities.

At Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge enjoy:

· Live raptors from the Birds of Prey Foundation;

Ÿ Environmental education displays and activities;

Ÿ Wildlife exhibits;

Ÿ Interactive poetry;

Ÿ Kids’ activities;

Ÿ Self-guided nature walks on the Refuge trail system; and

Ÿ Performances by Teddy Roosevelt and the 12 foot walking, talking dinosaur.


This event is produced by the Arvada Festivals Commission and its community partners, Majestic View Nature Center, Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge, Arvada Park Advisory Committee and the Denver Bicycle Touring Club.
