The Arvada Center Announces Auditions for Buddy...The Buddy Holly Story

ARVADA, CO - The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for Buddy…The Buddy Holly Story on Monday, March 10 and Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the Arvada Center. This production will be directed by Rod A. Lansberry and choreographed by Kitty Skillman Hilsabeck, with musical direction by David Nehls. Producer Rod A. Lansberry.

Equity auditions will be held on March 10 from 11:00 a.m. – Noon. Open auditions will be held on March 10 from Noon - 3:00 p.m. and March 11 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Auditions are by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling (720) 898-7200.

New York auditions will be held March 17 – 19, 2008. Auditions are by appointment only on Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 18. No EPA auditions will be held in New York. Los Angeles auditions will be held March 25 – 27, 2008. EPA auditions will be held on Monday, March 25. Auditions are by appointment on Tuesday, March 26. Experienced performers are needed with strong acting, singing and dancing abilities, as well as the ability to play an instrument. This is an Equity LORT B production, although non-equity actors may audition. Ethnic minorities and cultural varieties encouraged for all roles. Actors should prepare 16 – 32 bars of up-tempo pop/rock and roll musical theater appropriate to the production. Auditioners should know the complete song but may only be required to perform 16 bars. Actors will need to demonstrate their ability to play the instrument for the role they are auditioning for. Almost all roles require playing an instrument and double other roles. See breakdown for further information. Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. No taped music or acappella allowed. A current headshot and resume are required. Equity members must have a current ID card.

Rehearsals for Buddy begin on June 17, 2008. The show opens July 8 and runs through August 3, Tuesday through Saturday evenings with matinees on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays for a total of eight shows per week.
