Sister Cities Program

Sister Cities International grew out of a program initiated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in the late 1950's for the purpose of promoting world peace through people-to-people contact. It is dedicated to letting people give expression to their common desire for friendship, goodwill and cooperation for a better world for all.

Arvada Sister Cities International (ASCI)

In 1992, the City of Arvada and a group of interested citizens founded Arvada Sister Cities International (ASCI).

The Goals of ASCI

  • to increase cultural awareness and understanding with other countries
  • to promote educational exchanges
  • to explore opportunities for economic development
  • to serve as an exchange for ideas, technology, and municipal systems with our sister cities.

Membership in ASCI is open to all interested individuals, families, businesses and organizations.

Additional Sister Cities

ASCI wishes to establish sister city relationships with other municipalities throughout the world. At this time potential cities in China, Russia, Mexico, Argentina, Israel, Egypt, and Japan are being discussed. Nominations for cities in these or in other countries are welcome. You have an opportunity to participate in identifying and developing Arvada's next sister city!
