New Spring Gallery Exhibitions at the Arvada Center
ARVADA, CO – The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities is
proud to announce three new visual arts exhibitions that will be on display in
April and May in the Center’s three gallery spaces. All exhibitions are free
and open to the public.
Heather Billings Muñoz: Candyland will be on exhibit in
the Theater Gallery from April 7 – May 4, 2008. This exhibition is made up of
digital photography featuring arrangements of sugary confections, portraying
life as a teenage girl. Billings Muñoz’s work has previously been seen at the
Center, both in the last two Jeffco
Juried Teachers Exhibitions and in the 2007 Art Market.
The 4th
Annual Jeffco Juried Teachers Exhibition will be displayed in the Upper
Gallery from April 7 – May 18, 2008. This exhibition features works in a
variety of mediums, including ceramics, sculpture, photography, painting,
drawing, collage and mixed media, by instructors currently teaching at Jefferson County elementary, middle and high schools.
Instructors go through a competitive selection process, and the number of
entries has grown each year. This year’s jurors are Chuck McCoy, Arvada Center Graphic Designer, and Lehlan Murray, artist and Exhibition
Designer for the Denver Art Museum. A reception for Heather Billings
Muñoz and the Teachers Exhibition will
be held Thursday, April 17 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
The 37th Annual Jeffco
High Schools Art Exhibition will be shown in the Lower Gallery from April 11 – May 11, 2008. Featuring
the young artistic talents of high school students in the Jefferson County School District, this juried exhibition includes
ceramics, sculpture, photography, painting, drawing, collage and mixed media. A
reception and awards ceremony will be held Monday,
April 28 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
The Arvada Center galleries are free and open to the
public Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday, 9:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m.;
and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The galleries are also open until 7:30 p.m. on evenings with main stage
presentations. Free docent-led tours of the Arvada Center’s gallery exhibitions and history
