Let’s Go Fly a Kite at the Arvada Kite Festival
Big kites, little kites, home-made kites, fanciful kites, and colorful kites of all shapes will fly high in the beautiful blue sky over Robby Ferrufino Park on Saturday, April 5. It’s Arvada’s 6th Annual Kite Festival celebrating National Kite Month. Held at 74th and Carr Street from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, this free family fun celebration is co-produced by the Arvada Festivals Commission and the Foothills Kite Club.
Exciting kite competitions for children 10 and under and those 11 and over in four different categories, including smallest kite, largest kite, most visually appealing kite, and highest-flying kite will reward the lucky contestants with trophies for the top four winners in both age groups. In other aerial entertainment, the kite masters from the Foothills Kite Club will demonstrate kite flying in grand style with some of their huge, fantastic kites.
Along with the kite competitions and aerial fantasies, the Jeffco Brass Band will entertain with rousing renditions, New to the celebration this year, Dave Sullivan’s and Dean Bernard’s adventures in art booth for children will entice and intrigue. Other fun activities include two jumping castles, a face painter, a balloon animal maker, a caricaturist, food vendors, commercial and community booths, and door prizes,
