Insulate Your Home and Receive a Cash Rebate!
Through a partnership with the Governor’s Energy Office, the City’s Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization Division is offering Arvada homeowners an opportunity to participate in the 2008 Insulate Colorado rebate program. This program, intended to increase consumer awareness of residential energy efficiency options and actively promote the installation of additional whole-house energy saving measures, provides rebates to residential property owners for home insulation expenses incurred after April 22, 2008.
To participate in the program, a homeowner must meet the following criteria:
- The home must be located with the City of Arvada.
- Property owners must work with an eligible insulation contractor.
- The contractor must correctly install insulation to a determined performing R-value, in either the home’s attic and/or exterior walls, as well as air-seal all appropriate areas.
- Upon completion, the homeowner must complete a rebate request form, attach copies of the contractor’s official work invoice and insulation-card, sign and return an affidavit with an accepted form of identification to prove lawful presence in the United States, and submit those items to the City for payment of the rebate.
Upon approval, the City will provide the homeowner with a rebate of either 20% of the total qualified insulation cost, or $300, whichever is less. Rebates are to be distributed on a first-received, first-paid process, with the program closing when funds are no longer available. All homes that homeowners are issued a rebate for are subject to verification of the completed work. Rebates are limited to one per address. Insulation and air-sealing work that began after April 22, 2008 and will be completed before funding is exhausted or by December 31, 2008 (whichever comes first) will be considered eligible. Owners of owner occupied or one or more rental homes are eligible for the rebate so long as those properties are located in the City.
This program is a terrific way to save money through lower heating costs as well as add to the value of your property while receiving a rebate to help cover costs. Further information and forms can be obtained from participating contractors or from the City website or by calling 720-898-7494.
