Hard-working families in Colorado that earn less than $50,000 per year could be eligible to receive up to $5,000 or more in tax refunds through the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and other tax benefits. Whether or not you owe any federal income tax, these credits could put thousands of dollars into your pocket.
Don’t miss out this year! Families with incomes of less than $50,000 are also eligible for free tax preparation services through Tax Help Colorado. At community colleges across the state, trained students will prepare and e-file tax returns for thousands of families this tax season.
When filing taxes, be sure to ask about…
The Earned Income Tax Credit is a federal tax benefit that boosts the incomes of families with children that earn lower or moderate wages. Working people without children who have incomes below about $13,600 are also eligible for a very small EITC.
The Child Tax Credit also helps working families with children. This credit is worth up to $1,000 per child.
Special tax credits are available for those who are saving for retirement or paying for college.
