Generous Citizen Buys New Police K9

There’s a new dog in town thanks to the generosity of Fred Paige, a member of the Arvada/Jefferson Kiwanis Club.

Paige, a longtime supporter of the Arvada Police Department, donated the funds to purchase a German shepherd puppy that will be trained to serve as an Arvada K9 Unit teamed with Officer Brian Laas.

"I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the generosity demonstrated by Fred," said Chief Ron Sloan. "This donation will ease the financial burden on the Department because of K9 Bob’s unexpected retirement due to health issues only three years into his service."

Paige has donated to a number of Arvada Police Department programs including drug resistance education and the Arvada Child Advocacy Center.
