Enjoying Independence Day: Tips from the Arvada Police Department

The Lighting of Fireworks—Even Sparklers—Is Against the Law in Arvada
The Arvada Police Department reminds citizens that the purchase of any firework, or the use or explosion of any firework, is prohibited in the City of Arvada.  Even sparklers are considered a firework and cannot be lit in the City at anytime.

People who ignore the ordinance and explode fireworks in the City may be ticketed.  The minimum fine is $250; the maximum penalty is 180 days in jail or a fine of $999.   This ordinance is in place because fireworks can cause injury to people and pets and in Colorado’s dry climate, fireworks pose a significant fire risk.
