Drinking Water

The City provides drinking water that meets or exceeds all federal standards to residents of Arvada.  Our water comes to Arvada by a watershed that originates at the Continental Divide. By way of streams and canals, the water makes its way to one of two water treatment plants operated by the City.  There it is treated and distributed through 531 miles of water lines, nine tanks and six pump stations to homes and businesses.  These water lines are continually maintained and replaced when needed.  The City spends over $18 million annually assuring that its residents are provided high quality, safe drinking water.

The Water Quality Division performs 102 bacteriological tests throughout the distribution system on a monthly basis.  In addition, on the Drinking Water Quality listing, the division performs corrosivity tests biweekly, trihalomethanes and haloacetic acids tests monthly, radiochemical analysis quarterly,  the list of inorganics quarterly, and organics annually.
