Community Development Block Grant Program
Background
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) provides annual grants on a formula basis to entitled cities and counties to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low and moderate income persons. These grants are called Community Development Block Grants or CDBG. The City of Arvada has received these grants since 1975 which has enabled the City to provide a large array of vital public improvements and services to low and moderate income households and older neighborhoods
The Annual Action Plan for the use of 2009 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding allocated funding to two primary programs which include the Essential Home Repairs Program and the City Human Services Funding Pool.
