Communications Bureau (Dispatch)
Dispatchers routinely field more than 200,000 phone calls during the year, an average of roughly 550 phone calls per day.
This team is extremely professional and well trained to communicate with citizens experiencing critical incidents as well as non-emergency situations.
In addition to handling police related calls, they also provide citizens with information to help them better address their immediate needs.
Police dispatchers are also the radio communication link to police officers, detectives, animal management units and city crews working the street and handling calls for service.
