The Arvada City Council has selected Gerald (Jerry) Marks to fill the vacant District 1 seat. This decision was reached following a candidate forum that lasted nearly four hours and four rounds of balloting among the six council members.
Mr. Marks is the Owner/President of Custom Environmental Services, an Arvada business. He has been active in the community as a volunteer firefighter, Board member and Chairman of the Arvada Chamber of Commerce, Board Member and Retention Committee Member of the Arvada Economic Development Association and Board Member for the newly formed Arvada Vitality Alliance. He has also contributed to several community nonprofit organizations, including the Arvada Community Food Bank, Ralston House, Red Rocks Community College Foundation and the Arvada Colts. He is a 20 year resident of Arvada within District One.
Mr. Marks will be sworn in as the District 1 Councilmember at the beginning of the Council Workshop on Monday, January 13. The swearing in ceremony will be televised by KATV Channel 8.
