Arvada Volunteer Firefighters Park
This old existing park has aged beyond our abilities to maintain it in an attractive manner and to keep it safe. The Parks crews can no longer find replacement parts for the existing play area and most of the concrete walks are too narrow and/or are damaged. Much of the existing irrigation system in turf areas is now antiquated, worn out and need replacement. The native grass zones adjacent to Club Crest Drive and West 84th Avenue could be replaced with irrigated blue grass turf to make more usable space for neighboring park users and improve the overall attractiveness of the park. A shelter structure and pad could also be considered as an addition to accommodate local neighborhood picnickers. New, wider walkways should be added to better serve the surrounding access points and the multi-functional aspects of current park design. The existing basketball court could remain since it is in relatively good condition and serves its intended purpose.
