In response to community concerns stemming from the recent Jessica Ridgeway case in Westminster, the Arvada Police Department has partnered with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and the Ralston House to offer a series of child safety classes for both adults and children.
Stranger Awareness 2012
The Arvada Police Department offers Stranger Awareness classes geared toward school-aged children. Arvada Police volunteers, working in conjunction with the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office, host this free one-hour class. The class will teach children what to do if a stranger approaches them or if they are lost, and reviews different stranger scenarios to reinforce the information. Classes are on a first come, first served basis and will be offered:
· Sunday, Oct. 28 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Sound Body Sound Mind Fitness (14615 W. 64th Ave.),
· Tuesday, Oct. 30 from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Arvada Library (7525 West 57th Avenue)
· Monday, Nov. 5 from 4:00-5:00 pm at the Arvada Library (7525 West 57th Avenue)
