Arvada, CO – The City of Arvada announced the promotion of Michele Hovet as its Deputy City Manager. Ms. Hovet will begin her new role for the City on June 18, 2012.
"In her current role as Chief Information Officer for the City, Ms. Hovet has consistently demonstrated her abilities in strategic planning, performance management and local/regional trend identification that were required for this newly developed position," stated Arvada City Manager Mark Deven. "Her role as a second Deputy City Manager for Arvada allows our responsiveness to citizen, economic, and organizational needs to expand even further."
Michele has worked at the City twice in her career for a combined 17 years of service. Most recently she has been the Chief Information Officer (CIO) managing technology and communications. During this her time as CIO, Arvada was ranked as a "National Top 10 Digital City" eight times by the Center for Digital Government. In addition, Michele was personally named a "2010 Top 25 Doer, Dreamer and Driver" by Government Technology Magazine.
She has been an active member of the City's Executive Management Team and has contributed towards organizational initiatives such as partnering on annual budget processes, organizational training and assisted in creating strategic direction.
Michele's educational background includes a Bachelor's of Arts degree from Fort Lewis College in Business Administration.
As a mother of two children in college, Michele enjoys her time with family as much as she can. In addition, she also loves boating and can be found riding her horse most weekends on one of Arvada's great trails. Michele and her family reside in Wheat Ridge. As Arvada's Deputy City Manager, Michele will oversee multiple City Departments and services while administering the City's vision of "Continuing to Build a Great Community."
