Arvada Center Chorale Concert

ARVADA, CO – The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities is excited to present the first concert of the 2008 Summer Entertainment Series: The Arvada Center Chorale presents Ol’ Man River: The Music of Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein II, with the Lakewood Symphony Orchestra and guest soloists. The performance is on Friday, June 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the outdoor amphitheater.

The Arvada Center Chorale showcases favorites from lifelong friends Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein. Timeless tunes such as Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and Last Time I Saw Paris transport the audience to the golden age of American Musical Theater when Showboat, considered the first true American musical play, premiered Ol’ Man River and Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man. The Chorale will be joined by some of the Arvada Center’s most popular performers – Beth Flynn, Milton Craig Nealy, Laura Ryan and Brian Kelly. Join us for an evening of music and memories.

Hailed as “one of Denver’s master comediennes,” local favorite Beth Flynn joins the Chorale for this night of nostalgic music. Beth was most recently seen at the Center in The House of Blue Leaves and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

Milton Craig Nealy, another Arvada Center favorite, will also be performing. Milton is known for his memorable roles The Full Monty and Pippin, and his recent award-winning role in La Cage aux Folles.

Laura Ryan has proudly performed in several Children’s Theater productions at the Center, as well as main stage shows, including her infamous role as Getrune in Das Barbecu. Laura has also worked at the Center with the volunteer force, and states, “Returning to the Center is like coming home – it’s a place I simply love to be!

Since moving to Colorado, Brian Kelly’s favorite theater has been the Arvada Center, where he has appeared in Singin’ in the Rain, Guys and Dolls, Crazy for You and as Harold in both runs of The Full Monty.

Tickets are $30 for Premium Covered seats, $25 for Covered, $15 for Lawn and $10 for Child (Lawn). For tickets, call the Arvada Center box office at (720) 898-7200 or visit arvadacenter.org. All summer concerts are held rain or shine.
