Arvada Center Announces Auditions for A Wonderful Life

ARVADA, CO - The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for A Wonderful Life on Tuesday, August 12 and Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at the Arvada Center. This production will be directed by Bev Newcomb Madden, with musical direction by Martha Yordy and produced by Rod A. Lansberry.

Equity auditions will be held on August 12 from 11:00 a.m. – Noon. Open auditions will be held on August 12 from Noon – 3:00 p.m. and August 13 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Auditions are by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling (720) 898-7200.

Experienced performers are needed with strong acting, singing and dancing abilities. This is an Equity LORT B production, although non-equity actors may audition. Ethnic minorities and cultural varieties encouraged for all roles. Actors should prepare 16 – 32 bars of a musical theater appropriate to the production. Auditioners should know the complete song but may only be required to perform 16 bars. Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. No taped music or acappella allowed. A current headshot and resume are required. Equity members must have a current ID card.

Rehearsals for A Wonderful Life begin on November 4, 2008. The show opens November 25 and runs through December 28, 2008, Tuesday through Saturday evenings with matinees on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays for a total of eight shows per week.

George Bailey – Ages from early 20's to mid-40's during performance. Likeable, good looking, desperate, emotional. Strong baritone.

Mary Hatch – Ages from early 20's to mid-40's during performance. Pretty, kind, fun loving. Strong singing voice.

Mathew – 50's to 60's. Older Executive Angel. Thoughtful and wise. Strong vocally.

Clarence – 50's. Angel to George. Sweet, helpful, innocent. Sings.

Uncle Billy – 50's. George's Uncle. Incapable, bewildered, loving but drinks a bit.

Henry Potter – 50's to 60's. Nasty, conniving, intimidating. Sings.

Bert – Policeman. George's friend. Nice Guy.

Ernie – Cab Driver. Helpful, a bit gruff.
