Apply for Passports at the City of Arvada!

The Arvada City Clerk’s office has been processing passport applications for over five years and has six experienced Passport Agents to assist you. Come to the third floor of City Hall between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday to apply for your passport and experience great, quick customer service! (Note: it is best to arrive no later than 4:30 p.m.)

Applying for your passport usually requires only ten or 15 minutes and, particularly when you come prepared with the necessary documents, is a seamless process.

To insure that you can complete the process at the time of your visit, please bring the following documents:

  • Certified copy of birth certificate for each person applying for a passport (this will be sent in with the application and returned when you receive your passport)
  • If you are 16 or older and have previously been issued a passport, bring it with you even if it has expired as it will replace the need for your birth certificate. Children under 16 still require their birth certificate as well as their previously issued passport.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Check or money order to pay Federal fees sent along with passport application: $75 for ages 16 and older; $60 for under 16.
  • Cash, check, or credit card (Visa or Master Card) to pay City processing fee: $25.
  • Cash, check, or credit card to pay for passport photo, if needed: $10.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE $75.00 PER ADULT FEE AND $60.00 FOR CHILDREN UNDER 16 FEE MUST BE PAID IN THE FORM OF A CHECK OR MONEY ORDER.

Each person, including children, applying for a passport needs to appear in person before the passport acceptance agent. For children under the age of 16, both parents must be present for the application process. (If one parent cannot be present at the time of application, there is a form available that the absent parent must sign and have notarized prior to applying for the passport.)

If you currently have a passport and need to have it renewed, go to the State Department’s website at www.travel.state.gov and read the qualifications you need to meet for renewing your passport. In many instances, you will be able to renew by filling out the renewal application, attaching two recent passport photos, and attaching your existing passport and the required fees. You do not need to go to an acceptance facility for processing, nor will you need to attach your birth certificate. Children under 16 are not eligible to renew a previously issued passport, and must complete a new passport application.

Please note that there are many other circumstances that may require you to provide documents other than those listed above, such as Naturalization Certificates, Court Orders, Adoption papers, etc. Please check the Federal Government’s passport application requirements at www.travel.state.gov for the most recent information.

If you find yourself in special circumstances where you may be traveling quickly, please call the Arvada City Clerk’s Office. We may be able to assist you and you can avoid contracting with a fee-based passport service business.

If you still have questions after you have read the information at www.travel.state.gov, please call the Arvada City Clerk’s Office at 720-898-7550 to speak with a Passport Acceptance Agent.
