Celebrate Chocolate Time in Olde Town Arvada
Chocolate! Chocolate! Chocolate! …and much more will be featured at the annual Chocolate Affair to be held in Historic Olde Town Arvada on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Presented by the Arvada Festivals Commission and Historic Olde Town Arvada, this event includes the Taste of Chocolate; a Chocolate Treasure Hunt; the Chocolate Cookie Contest; storytelling, face painting and balloon artistry; romantic carriage rides; and giant hearts all around town.
Indulge your love of chocolate at the Taste of Chocolate, a sampling of good-for-you delights. Drop by the D-Note Restaurant, on Grandview, and DiCicco's Banquet Room, on Olde Wadsworth Blvd. between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM for delicious samples of chocolate. Lovers of mankind’s best-loved desserts will be able to sample cakes, candies, brownies, fudge, chocolate drinks and other delicious concoctions. Tickets will be available at the door, six sampling tickets for $5.00. Proceeds benefit the Arvada Ralston House, a child advocacy and resource center for kids who have been abused. Last year the Taste of Chocolate raised over $2,000 for the organization.
Join the adventure of the Chocolate Treasure Hunt and discover many Olde Town stores to search for Chocolate Clues. Teams and individuals will gather clues to compete for prize drawings of large chocolate-enriched baskets of goodies. This fun family activity is free and will take place between 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM, starting in Town Square. Many of the businesses will also offer treats of chocolate to sustain you in your search.
Enter your favorite chocolate chip cookies or creatively decorated chocolate cookies in the Chocolate Cookie Contest. Contestants can drop off cookie samples between 11:00 and 1:00 at the DiCicco's Banquet Room. Submit only one entry in either or both categories of cookies. Participants must submit five sample cookies on a disposable plate; neither cookies nor disposable plate will be returned. There is no cost to enter. The contest is open to all ages and first, second, and third prizes will be awarded in each category.
To entertain little chocolate lovers there will be storytelling, face painting, and balloon tying offered free to the children. You can also treat your loved ones to a Carriage Ride around the charming Olde Town area and admire the giant red hearts on the lampposts celebrating the month of love.
