Additional Funds Available for Insulate Colorado
The Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization Division of the City of Arvada has provided insulation rebates totaling over $18,000 to 96 Arvada households since the program started in April of 2008. This program is being made available through the Governors Energy Office in cooperation with the City.
The program originally started with $12,000 from the Governors Energy Office, along with a $12,000 match from the City for a total of $24,000. On October 13 the City was notified that an additional $12,000 has been provided. The program continues through December 31, 2008.
To participate in the program, a residential property owner must work with an eligible insulation contractor and the unit must be located within the City. The contractor must correctly install insulation to a determined performing R-value, in either the home’s attic and/or exterior walls, as well as air-seal all appropriate areas. Upon completion, the owner must complete a rebate request form, attach copies of the contractor’s official work invoice and insulation-card, and sign and return an affidavit with an accepted form of identification to prove lawful presence in the United States; and submit those items to the City for payment of the rebate.
Upon approval, the City will provide the owner with a rebate of either 20% of the total qualified insulation cost, or $300, whichever is less. Rebates are to be distributed on a first-received, first-paid process. The program will close when funds are no longer available. Rebates are subject to verification of completed work and are limited to one per address. The work must have been done after April 22, 2008.
